What is Forme and How was it born?
Forme was born out of a desire for two friends, to revamp their bedrooms and give them a modern, minimalist look with a natural vibe. An architectural engineer and, a computer and process engineer, set out to collect ideas from Pinterest and the internet to create a mood board for their ideal bedrooms.
As they compared their ideas, they realized they shared a similar vision for incorporating natural elements such as stones, wood, and plants. However, they couldn’t find the designs they wanted in local furniture stores. So, they collaborated with a craftsman, providing their designs and dimensions, and got to work creating their ideal bedroom pieces.
The end result was stunning and unique, and everyone who saw the founder’s new bedroom was impressed and inquisitive about where she got her pieces. This feedback inspired them to introduce their designs to the Bahraini market, focusing specifically on the Travertine stone that they used in their creations.
Why is it named Forme? and What makes Forme stand out in the market?
The name “forme,” the founder explained that the name was chosen because it represents the configuration or shape of something, including its contours and parts. The goal was to choose a name that reflected the shapes of the products and projects themselves. And thus, Forme was born as a business that specializes in crafting unique, nature-inspired designs using Travertine stone, with the aim of helping others create their dream spaces.
The standout quality of Forme in the market is its commitment to creating timeless designs with a personal touch. In Bahrain, such designs are rare and require a lot of effort to perfect. However, the demand for their unique creations and the positive reactions from clients makes it all worthwhile. Did you get any formal training for Forme?
The duo behind Forme didn’t follow a traditional path of formal training before starting their business. Instead, they relied on their innate creativity and skills honed through previous experiences.
One founder has a background in interior design, having taken courses in college, so she had some knowledge of how it all worked. Using AutoCAD and other software, she took care of the technical and design aspects of their products, making sure the dimensions were just right.
Meanwhile, the co-founder handled the business management and financial side of things. They split up the responsibilities in a way that made the most sense for their skills and interests. Through trial and error, they learned what worked and what didn’t in terms of creating pieces that fit seamlessly into interior settings.

What’s the best thing and the hardest thing about working at Forme?
The best thing about working from home was that it gave them the freedom to unleash their creativity with the Travertine stone, and they were able to learn many things about it, which allowed them to create whatever they desired. The opportunity to have complete creative control over their work was a major benefit for them, as it enabled them to take ownership of their business and flourish creatively.
The hardest part for Forme’s owners is managing their workload and finding time to collaborate with other businesses. With a growing number of orders, they have less free time than before and need to balance their creative work with managing the business. Despite the challenges, they are motivated by the opportunities to create unique stone products and establish themselves in the market.
What is your biggest achievement so far?
When asked about their biggest achievement so far, the business owners had different opinions. While one considered the tray as their most notable product, the other felt that the candle holder was their biggest achievement. However, they expressed excitement about an upcoming product that they are currently working on and plan to release in a few weeks. According to them, this new creation will be even better, and more unique than anything they have done before. They believe that their constant effort to improve and create something new is what keeps their customers interested and looking forward to what’s next.
What skill would you say is the most important skill in your line of work?
When it comes to Form’s line of work, the most important skill is undoubtedly designing. However, marketing is also crucial for the success of the business, and that’s where the co-founder’s expertise comes in. As for the future, Forme has some exciting plans in store, including the opening of a showroom and workshop. Customers can look forward to new and innovative products from Forme as the business continues to grow and evolve and this growth is only possible because of the combination of both their skills.
